Point Vicente, located in the Palos Verdes Peninsula, was originally named in 1790 by Captain George Vancouver.  A lighthouse was built in 1926 to provide safe passage to ships navigating the channel between Santa Catalina Island and the peninsula.  The area surrounding the promontory has several walking / hiking trails open to the public.

Postcard by Ruth Rieckehoff, who writes for people interested in exploring life’s off-the-beaten-path options. Lately, she has been obsessed with wild beaches, piers and ethnic neighborhoods.  Find her life, love and travel stories at her blog Tanama Tales.

Do you have a great pic that would make a awesome postcard, that you want to see here? Send it to nomad.justin@yahoo.com, along with a short description, your name, and a link to your blog. Thanks!
