Giza

Even after four years and 67 countries, I have yet to see the Pyramids of Giza, which are arguably the number one destination on anyone’s list. Until today. Today I dumped the backpack and flip-flops, and went full tourist here in Cairo. I left my tiny budget hostel, rode the dirty metro, took a taxi through the trashed area of Giza and marched into the tourist office. I didn’t care how much it costed, I just wanted to ride a camel around the Pyramids. So I did. Cross that one off. Now I can limp home (literally), and get ready for my tour of Israel next week!

My camel’s name was Michael Jackson. He tried to make me fall off, and he was the slowest beast on earth, but at least he smiled a lot.

Since I had a guide, he made sure that I did and acted as much like a tourist as possible, including making me pose in from of the pyramids. It was pretty embarrassing, but when I looked around to see who was looking, there was no one around. So oh well. Next stop, Jerusalem.

And yes…. In case you were wondering, Stormy was there to photo bomb some photos. He wouldn’t miss it.
