Postcards: Laguna Quilotoa

laguna quilotoa

Laguna Quilotoa in rural Ecuador is one of the most beautiful lakes I’ve ever seen. It’s actually a still-active volcanic crater filled with water with a striking turquoise colour due to the dissolved minerals from the surrounding rock. It’s a popular stop along the Quilotoa loop, a road that connects several indigenous villages that maintain many centuries-old traditions, and home to our favourite hotel in all of South America, the Black Sheep Inn. Read more about it  HERE!

Do you have a great pic that would make a awesome postcard, that you want to see here? Send it, along with a short description, your name, and a link to your blog. Thanks!

  1. Thanks for sharing my photo. I wish we’d had more time to spent at Laguna Quilotoa – there’s a hike around the rim of the crater which would’ve been great to do, but we had to be on our way.
